in case you've been living under a rock, here's the article...

i have acid reflux disease. in my years of singing, both "recreationally" (read: karaoke night), and in choirs, solos, etc., NOT ONCE has it affected my singing. fuck man, i've gotten bronchitis pretty much every year as far back as i can remember, and ALWAYS around the time of the christmas choir concerts.

um, weak excuse, ms. simpson.

get a humidifier, grab some lemons and honey, drink some throat coat tea and get over yourself!

this pisses me off. if you're a singer, then SING for fuck's sake! i remember a few years back, when VH1 had one of their "divas live" concerts. cher was one of the performers. she did sing almost all of her songs live, except for her hit at the time, "believe". yes, the song is all electronically altered, but really? it's not unsingable without all the computer-generated inflections.

if you are on a show called "divas live", then prove you're worthy of being on that stage.

life is not all blended harmonies and perfect pitch. sometimes there are screw ups. your voice cracks, you forget the words (as Howie Day did on Friday night, to his song "Collide"). you deal and move on.

i would love that opportunity - to record, sing, perform. from every perfect high note, to every flubbed lyric, i'd relish it. i'm happy at karaoke night and singing in the car. it just bothers me when people who clearly don't have the talent, get these opportunities handed to them on a silver platter, and don't even appreciate them, don't use them to their full advantage.
