i hope you have fun...

i don't believe i ever told anyone of my love affair with mountain dew pitch black. holy hell, that stuff was like grape-flavored sex. not that there's such a thing, mind you (as far as i know), but damn. that stuff was good. too bad it was only limited edition.

now, i know better. i'll be stockpiling the holiday spice pepsi. festivities in a 20 oz. bottle.

normally, i'm not a girl for regular beverages (aka "non-diet": 150 calories of liquid? not unless it's going to get me drunk, folks...), but for these taste treats, i'll make an exception.

yesterday was mom's birthday celebration. mom, my sister sue and i went to the famous wax museum, which DAMN, some of those sculptures is just freaky. trust me, you'd be a little irked if Morgan Freeman was staring at you and wouldn't stop. we took fun pictures, which of course i'll eventually upload onto my photoblog. we then spent $18 on 5 NY pretzels and 2 cans of soda, and made our way back to NJ.

i'll tell ya, it was a trip to see mom just wandering through NYC...this was a woman who, a few years ago, could barely leave the house, due to panic attack and anxiety. sue and i never thought we'd see the day that she's go to the city, and have FUN.

i haven't seen my nephew since july...and he is talking SO well! he's 3 and a 1/2 now, and he has apraxia, a speech disorder. for probably a year, at least, he's been getting speech therapy. and i'm in AWE at the improvement. it was hard, at first, because i don't think he knew who i was at first. which is typical, since i don't see him often. but once he got the idea that i was "aunt meri", everything seemed to be okay. but he gave me THREE of his worm stickers...more than anyone else. so i feel damn special.

we surpised mom by having her best friend and her husband come out to dinner with us. i thought mom was going to cry. i think she probably did. and then we surprise her AGAIN with 2 pieces of cake (one chocolate, one cheesecake) and singing "Happy Birthday" in the restaurant. some of the staff and diners were singing along. heh. mom was a little embarrassed, but you KNOW she loved it.

please, she's related to ME. we looooooove attention. it's a family trait.

of course, now i am back home in PA, and sick as a dog. wandering the chilly city probably didn't help. so today will be spent sitting around, napping, eating hot & sour soup and drinking tea.

hm. i am choosing not to speak of all the other things on my mind, because, well, i'm just choosing not to. i'd rather just remember how yesterday was a very happy day.

oh, and a RIP shout out to Ol' Dirty Bastard (ODB). you'll be missed, that's for sure.
