shiny happy people

of course, leaving work at 3pm didn't help. about 4 miles outside of pittsburgh, there was a MUDSLIDE on the PA Turnpike. yes, a mudslide.

so that set me back an hour on my journey. add that to the torrential downpours that attacked my route -- it took me NINE HOURS to get to him.

but, true to form, it was worth it the moment i walked in the door. as it always is.

i mentioned to him that i feel bad for him. when i show up, he never knows "which meredith" he's going to be greeting.

today, we went to a parade in his town. i swear, it's americana apple pie main street. i love it. as he was introducing me to various members of the community, it just stuck me how genuinely NICE everyone is here. overwhelmingly so.

the skies are bluer here.

i actually ended up having flashbacks to the "Italian Fest" that is held every labor day weekend in scranton. this parade/festival is very similar. booths and fair-food (sausage peppers & onions! funnelcake!), parades and little kids losing their balloon.

i got a balloon too. but i didn't lose mine (yet).

i got a lovely v-necked sunburn. and i'm exhausted.

but i'm happy. for more consecutive minutes that i am used to, or should ever hope to get accustomed to, i'm happy.
