you can take the girl out of jersey, but you can't take the jersey out of the girl

this year, to save me from tears, i'll give it to someone special

2004-12-12 The current mood of meredithelaine at www.imood.com

there has been a beeping noise (like an alarm clock) going on somewhere in my building all weekend. it has been driving me up the wall.

i went down to the laundry room (where the thermostats also are), and it's coming from in there. there's a little red box, and it's beeping with lights blinking next to "alarm" and "system error" or something like that.

now, the building hasn't exploded, no one has gotten robbed, and i still have heat, so i'm assuming that all is well.

i didn't do my laundry though. in my warped mind, the "system error" IS the washing machine, and with my luck, the machine would overflow and the entire first floor would be covered in "All Free" (free of dyes and perfumes, you see, because i'm a sensitive gal like that) bubbles.

i left a voicemail for the maintenence department. i can't imagine i'm the only one in the building who's annoyed by this noise.

i've been battling a migraine for 2 or 3 days now. and some sort of itchy eye/nose allergy attack. which is odd, considering that it's been raining, and it's december, so there shouldn't be excess pollen floating around, should there?

but i managed to get out of the house today and head over to tar-zhay to pick up some christmas goodies. and some holiday spice pepsi. i then came home and worked on one of my christmas presents. mission accomplished, which is good, because time is running short.

the rest of my time has been spent unsucessfully trying to sleep, and downloading songs off of s0ulseek. i think about 100 or so. i am fully aware that i'm going to downloader's hell someday, but considering my 400+ collection of cds, and many more cassette tapes that i've purchased over the years, i feel justified.

just a word of advice: if you tend to get depressed during the holidays, do NOT, under any circumstances, listen to Bright Eyes' christmas EP. nothing will make you want to wrap christmas lights around your neck and strangle yourself more than conor oberst singing "have yourself a merry little christmas".

for the most part, this was quite the wasted weekend. which is fine, i think. one needs that every once in a while. although, during the holiday season, it can be somewhat sad as well.

but, driving around listening to christmas cds, singing "all i want for christmas is you", "mele kelikimaka", and "marshmellow world" at the top of your lungs is THE cure for the holiday blues.

fa la la, baby. fa la la.
