sweet and plain unsingable name

we had to meet in philly, because traffic and construction on I-80 made it impossible for him to get to my house and then for us to drive down there and make the show.

our hotel room ended up being upgraded to a suite. why? because i'm cute, that's why. cute girls get the perks, haven't you heard (hee)? i waited for him (im)patiently. we took a cab to the world cafe live, because i was NOT about to walk from 17th and Race to 30th and Walnut. not that he would've wanted to either, but i have a legit medical excuse.

the venue is adorable and classy. we hit the bar and got some beers. we each had 3 or 4, i believe; which on an empty stomach is not necessarily the smartest decision, but we were in good spirits (pun not intended).

side note: i got checked out at the bar. philly-word.

i've been listening to a lot of mike doughty lately, so i knew more of the lyrics this time around. such fun. i danced and bounced and sang along. i was smiling so hard it hurt. but i couldn't stop. when you've got the glorious concoction of good music and the man you love swirling around in your bloodstream - you can't help yourself.

after the show, i bought mike doughty's latest cd, and we waited on line to meet him and have it signed. stupid me, i didn't bring my camera. but we'll be seeing mike again on thursday in cleveland, so i'll HAVE to get a picture with him then.

we eventually left the venue, slightly stumbling and laughing. we wandered around for a few blocks, trying to find somewhere to go. where the fuck ARE the bars around UPenn? geez. we eventually gave up the fight - my back was in pain and i was hobbling slowly. we took a cab back to the hotel, and tried to find the WaWa that's nearby, but my sense of direction is crappy as it is. add a little beer and the fact that i didn't know which side of the hotel we were at (17th Street? or Race?), and...well, yeah. it wasn't pretty. i could barely walk and, of course, started to cry.

how do you make it all better? you go back to the hotel and order from domino's, of course!

now - i am NOT a fan of places that don't make "real" pizza. if you think dom's or the hut is real pizza, then...i don't know if i can talk to you anymore. BUT...any port in a storm at 1130pm when you don't know what else is around and open, don't feel like searching for it, and the overpriced room service is closed for the night anyway.

medium plain pizza + breadsticks + and cinnamon sticks = $18 of late-friday-night bliss.

on saturday, we drove around philadelphia, and went to Cereality. that's right - all cereal, all the time.

cinnamon life cereal is delicious when topped with bananas.

the rest of the weekend went by way too quickly. as it always does.

on sunday morning, my health started to deteriorate. and right now, i'm sitting here with a glass of raspberry blend juice, with a swollen throat and pretty much unable to talk.

so i'm going back to bed.
